These photos were snapped at the home tie of the Aston Villa v CSKA Moscow (18/02/09).
The match ended 1-1 and represented Villa’s 41st competitive match by February of that season. Villa went on to lose the second leg 2-0 – with the stand out performers being Vagner Love and Yuri Zhirkov for the opposition. This fixture was infamous for then Villa manager O’Neill fielding an extremely weakened side.
