All the latest news, transfer rumour and gossip from Villa Park – welcome to Wednesday folks:

We are continuing to explore options to resolve the troublesome fullback positions and are now looking further afield with a firm offer for Ajax defender Nicolai Boilesen, believed to be in the region of £1.5 million pounds, have been submitted.  Ajax are holding out for a slightly higher fee (£3.5) for the 23 year old club captain, who could walk away for nothing next season when his contract expires.

This also coincides with the news that Nice are demanding £5 million from Villa for Jordan Amavi  – but are desperately trying to tie the left back down to another season in Ligue 1 with the lure of an improved contract.

Villa have a great deal of deadwood in these positions & assuming that suitable replacements can be found, expect to see the disappointing Aly Cissokho & erratic / injured Kieran Richardson moved along swiftly.

Having stolen a lead on the competition, Villa now appear to be playing second fiddle to Chelsea in signing Asmir Begovic from Stoke.  The Bosnian ‘keeper is sitting tight until the £10 million fee Stoke are demanding is met, with Villa & Chelsea believed to have offered around £8 million to date.  Naturally, however, Begovic will likely opt for the English champions & Champions League football…but…you never know.

Villa appear to have lost out to Italian giants Inter Milan in the pursuit of

Ondrej Duda.  Duda, an exciting 20 year old midfielder at Legia Warsaw, has rejected Arsenal, Villa & Southampton in favour of a switch to Serie A – and is now expected to sign for Inter by the end of the week.  And so we move on…

And in other news, Villa have announced that at long last we have a top bookies at the club, announcing Bet365 & Betfair as partners.  No more scraching your heads when filling out the betting slip at the ground from now on chaps.
