News: Amavi SIGNS £10m, Delph Debacle, Gil Shines in Friendly & Benteke MEDICAL. #avfc

All of the latest happenings at Aston Villa, and there few, for today & the week in review:

Well, we’ve had worse weeks, haven’t we?

Villa have sealed the signing of Jordan Amavi after a drawn out chase, bidding war and contract negotiation.  It’s believed that the deal will be in the region of £10 million and may rise depending upon his progress or future sale.  The 21 year old French full back, joins us from Ligue 1 side Nice, where he has played 54 times.  That’s the good news over…

Next up; Fabian Delph.

What is there to say that hasn’t already been said?

Delph departed the club on Friday in a dramatic & unprecedented about turn on his statement just 6 days earlier.  He joins Manchester City for £8 million pounds, after the Champions League side activated the release clause in his contract for the second time in a week.

Whilst all hell was breaking loose in England, the Villa side were embarking upon their second friendly game against Sporting Braga.  The game finished 0-0 but Carles-Gil has come in for plaudits after an energetic showing.

Christian Benteke, also expected to depart this week, watched the Sporting Braga match from the stands.  Our hitman is expected to attend a medical on Monday ahead of a proposed switch to Liverpool for £32.5 million pounds.  This week, it is fair to say, has been an unmitigated disaster for Aston Villa.  We need to take swift, decisive action to get matters in hand.
