It’s a torrent of potential links, rumour and transfer deals at the moment – here’s the latest news from Villa Park:

Another day, another link to a relegated Hull player.  Hot on the heels of the Huddlestone story are reports Villa are looking at 23 year old left midfielder Robbie Brady.  The Irish international came through the youth ranks at Man Utd before transferring to Hull after two loan spells.  Brady contributed 2 assists and 3 goals in 32 appearances last term.  He is currently valued at £1.75 million.

A new name into the mix is 21 year old Charlton Athletic midfielder Jordan Cousins.  Liverpool, Arsenal, Newcastle & Villa have all been monitoring the player.  Interestingly Cousin’s operates in the same left midfield slot that other target Robbie Brady does, suggesting this is an area Villa are targeting for improvement.  Cousins is currently valued around the £1 million mark, but his stock is evidently rising.

An intriguing blog has appeared from Betfair expressing their scepticism that Christian Benteke will move on this transfer window.  As time goes on, it starts to look increasingly likely that he might just stay.   With that said, the Liverpool sites continue to link him strongly.  Despite being a big club, Liverpool seem neither the right fit for ambition of style of play he thrives from.  It would astonish me if he went to Anfield, genuinely.

Another Jordan has been linked, Jordan Amavi, a 21 year old left back currently plying his trade of Ligue 1 outfit Nice.  Depending upon which news outlet you trust, Villa have either bid or made tentative inquiries about his availability.  This coincides with another report that the club are also looking at Amavi’s team-mate Valentin Eyserric.  The attacking midfielder is currently out of favour with Nice after a disappointing year but is attracting interest from other French sides.

June 17th is just another day, apart from the fact that we can now druel over next seasons fixtures – check them out here.

The season starts in just over 50 days…
