The latest news and rumour from Villa Park:

Welsh international full back Jazz Richards has been linked to us in a £500k switch from Swansea City.  The 24 year old is surplus to requirements in Wales and will definitely leave this summer.  Villa’s competition for his signature at this stage is only Norwich City.

There is a suggestion that the club will also be looking to move Alan Hutton on in the event that a replacement and cover can be found.  Hutton is currently working down a contract which keeps him amongst some of the highest earners at the club.  Whilst Hutton contributed grit and guile to our survival last term, his style of play is unlikely to be of the approach Sherwood would want to adopt in a progressive Villa side.

A renewed link to Charlton Athletics 21 year old midfielder Jordan Cousins has appeared.  More on him here.  There is no real change other than progress towards Villa preparing a bid for the England U20 star.

Fabio Borini has been put forward by Liverpool in a proposed swap for Fabian Delph.  Whilst this format of deal is unlikely to interest Villa, Borini has expressed interest in the transfer – and there is the prospect of him joining directly – if the prices is right, the deal could appeal to both parties.  Borini, who has failed to establish himself at Liverpool, rejected a £12 million pound move to Sunderland last term.

Villa continue to brace themselves for a separate approach for Delph from Manchester City who are looking to reinvigorate their squad & achieve the English quota of players.  A significant bid is anticipated that could genuinely test Villa’s resolve – worryingly – many bookies have put our club captain as odds on to move.  If Delph were lost, it would represent an absolute hammer blow.
