The latest comings and goings at Villa Park:

Various news and media sites are reporting that the club has an interest in Pogba.  No, not that Pogba.  His brother Florentin Pogba, who has impressed for St. Etienne this season.  Unlike his attacking sibling, Florentin is a centre half, which depending upon the future of Vlaar & our frailties at the back generally, might be a punt worth taking.  The 24 year old is currently valued at £1.75m but is in the last year of his current deal with the French side.

In a surprise, if speculative twist, Benteke has now been linked with Spurs.  A £20m bid has been reported.  With Liverpool, Man Utd & Chelsea in the race to sign the Belgian, this doesn’t appear to have a great deal of legs.  For a striker destined for great things, White Hart Lane and Anfield are unlikely destinations.  It’s also telling that Eden Hazard is vocal in the press, stating his desire to play alongside Benteke…how convenient!

There is also growing uncertainty about the future of Ron Vlaar.  He is yet to commit to any sort of future at Villa & the purchase of a replacement (such as Pogba) may force the decision.  Ron is an interesting case, injury prone & not always as “concrete” as his nickname.  It may be in both parties best interests to part ways.  Possible suitors include Man Utd, Napoli, Arsenal and……Southampton…?

Tom Cleverley has opted to join Everton when his Manchester United contract expires at the end of the month.  The now England International will reportedly earn £13 million pounds over the course of a five year deal at Goodison Park.  Yikes.

Matthew Lowton is also expected to depart.  After initial promise at right back he has been largely consigned to bit part roles in the squad.  Most recently Lowton performed well at left back, deputising for injured pair Richardson & Cissokho.  He is linked to both newly promoted Norwich & Championship side Middlesbrough.
