In another demonstration of the clubs hunt for emerging talent, Villa have completed the signing of highly rated defender Thierry Katsukunya.

Despite being just 16, Katsukunya has made the switch to Villa Park for what is reported to be a “significant fee”. The value, whilst vague and unconfirmed, is believed to be in the region of six figures.

The academy starlet spent seven years at Coventry City and is described as tall and athletic.

The addition of the centre-half marks a further improvement to the development team, which the club hope will provide a competitive advantage over opposition in the global transfer market.

IN QUOTES

We wish Thierry the best of luck for his future career, having seen him progress and develop through our Academy system and with much hard work from Thierry, his family and the staff at our Academy.

While we did not want to sell him, it is an opportunity for Thierry to continue his development at Aston Villa’s Academy and we have ensured a significant fee has been received both now and potentially in the future for the Football Club.

Carney Chukwuemeka

Katsukunya’s arrival stands in contrast to concerning rumours that Carney Chukwuemeka is set to reject a new contract.

The England Under-21 international is reported to be frustrated at a lack of first team opportunities, attracting interest from Manchester City, Manchester United and Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund.
