In this episode…
Steve Bruce
The gaffer keeps publicly stating his annoyance at Villa’s performances and it was no different after the Blackburn defeat.
Whilst the end of seasons results are ultimately meaningless, the manager’s inability to remedy Villa’s obvious problems have now prompted a critical reaction from CEO Keith Wyness.
The squads lack of effort appears to be concerning the clubs hierarchy, an increasing number of fans & raises the prospect of further summer recruitment.
We also look at the failure to capitalise upon the investment made & how other sides have made progress in the 35+ games, whilst Villa haven’t.

Familiar Faces
The Blackburn result further underlined the limitations within the squad.
Without Jedinak, we look vulnerable at the defensively. Â If Kodjia is absent, the attacking threat is virtually nil. Â How do we remedy this?
Are Bacuna & Gardner the type of player to propel us back to the Premier League? Â And don’t we know everything there is to know about them already?
We explore the peripheral faces who still linger at Villa Park, why Villa should cut their losses and also ponder the lack of academy players breaking through.
Boxing Clever
Following the recent Joshua Klitschko fight – are Villa the ambling older fighter?
Are we in the kind of shape you used to see Ricky Hatton in between fights?
Maybe we are more like Tyson Fury!
Kodjia K.O.
Villa have had some dismal luck with injuries in recent seasons, with any number of long term injuries.
Jonathan Kodjia is no different, and despite having the close season to recover, will require surgery having suffered a broken ankle.
Kodjia will therefore not get a pre-season and potentially misses the start of the 2017/18 season.
Will this force Villa to invest big money in yet another striker? Â Might we see the remarkable rehabilitation of Ross McCormack?
Or can Villa simply wake up and provide service to Scott Hogan.

Baffling Tactics
What are they? Â Are the players to blame for being played out of position or in roles unfamiliar to where they were successful with other teams?
We ponder what Grealish’s role in such a set-up, Lansbury’s ineffectiveness & Amavi shoehorned into his midfield role.
Whilst Bruce can rightly criticise the output of any number of players during his tenure, team orders and formations appear to stifle key members of the side.
