There are reports circulating that polarising Villa figurehead Chris

Samuelson has left the club.

“The former Reading director was due to be named on the board at Villa Park after Tony Xia’s takeover. He was originally named as a director on the club’s website – but his name then vanished, with reports instead claiming he had been appointed as head of Recon Sports LTD – the parent company with an office address registered to Villa Park. But from what I understand he has now left completely – and it wasn’t his choice.“ [Source]

This Swiss financier had been subject to ongoing media and supporter scrutiny given his involvement and input at Reading as well as his business activities generally.

Indeed, The Villa Underground and others have queried the necessity for Samuelson’s involvement, both during the sale of the club.  Central to this was that after years of decline, there being an urgent need to form a sustainable board with Aston Villa’s best interests at its heart.

Promising centre half Kevin Toner has joined Walsall on loan until January.

Toner was one of very few positives to come out of our relegation season, demonstrating in just a handful of games that he had more passion, grit and determination that a number of seasoned pros around him.

Whilst still incredibly young, 20 year old Toner goes out on loan to get essential game time and experience.  Whilst many from the academy ranks drift in and out of loan deals, the Irishman’s progress is one whom many with an interest in Aston Villa will monitor closely.

Toner joins Walsall in League One, where they sit 17th after four games.

In other news, bomb squad members Micah Richards and Joleon Lescott are appearing to get increasingly desperate to leave the club.

Richards is reported to be mulling an offer to join Turkish side Trabzonspor.  The deal would see Richard’s join initially on a season long loan.  Hull continue to monitor his situation.

Lescott is currently in “advanced negotiations” with AEK Athen’s….which presumably would appeal more to his family
