As is customary now with news from Villa, our social media mogul, Dr. Tony, effectively announced the signing days ago by responding to fan queries about press rumours.
The Jedinak deal immediately feels like a solid, sensible signing of the type of player we desperately need. Not only that, Jedinak has all of the attributes so glaringly lacking in a lightweight and limited midfield unit.
The midfield general joins with over 60 international caps for Australia (recently as Captain), helped Palace to promotion and has featured in two Wembley finals.
There is a welcome and increasing trend with this summers recruitment, namely the words Captain or Leader becoming a common denominator. Elphick, McCormack & now Mile Jedinak.

Names that not only improve us in a footballing sense, but certainly mentally. It’s always reassuring when a selling clubs fans speak both positively of both the man and his ability.
Villa are certainly exercising a welcome policy of searching out obvious replacements for deficiencies in the squad.
Equally, and certainly by coincidence, the club is acting as those failures rear their ugly heads.
Just like Chester’s swift arrival from West Brom, after the defensive debacle at Luton Town, appears to have provided a solid partner for Elphick.

Tuesday night’s draw with Huddersfield delivered yet more evidence of our urgent need for grit and experience in the midfield. Jedinak’s arrival couldn’t be more timely or necessary.
In other news Jolean Lescott looks to finally be nearing an exit from Villa Park. The useless centre half appears set to seal a move to either Rangers or Sunderland. Good luck to them with that, any Villa fan would be happy to drive him north personally.
