A product of Villa’s Academy and one amongst a long line of players who were forever just about to “break” into the first team, Rushian Hepburn-Murphy appears to be the latest on his way out.
The tricky striker’s Villa career has stalled badly after widely held high expectations, with injuries and an inability to impress enough on loan to warrant inclusion in various manager’s plans.
Ironically it was the 21 year old who had been stalling on signing a new 3 and a half year deal whilst Steve Bruce was in charge, back in early 2017. It’s funny how little we’ve seen or heard of Hepburn-Murphy despite Villa hardly being over-flowing with attacking prowess in either the Championship or Premier League.
The youth international is expected to leave Villa Park on June 30th according to reports, with current loan club Derby rumoured to hold an interest.
Murphy has also had spells at Cambridge and Tranmere, playing 33 times, netting 6 goals. He averaged a little over a goal every five games for his loan clubs. Whilst at Derby, perhaps more interestingly, he’s only featured as part of the Under-23 league in Premier 2.
He’ll depart Villa having appeared 13 times and having been the second youngest debutant at 16 years 176 days old in 2015.
Jake Doyle-Hayes and Callum O’Hare also look set to be shown the door, find out about this and other transfer news here.
