Villa flop Ross McCormack has suffered a bad knee injury whilst on a season long loan with Australian side Central Coast Mariners.

The 32 year old has had a less prolific time down under this time around, having scored just once in a handful of appearances..

McCormack picked up the injury whilst with the Hyundai A League outfit, who are currently bottom. with just two points.

Initial reports inform us that the Scot is set for at least five weeks out, with the former Fulham striker having seen a surgeon yesterday.  It was subsequently reported that he will return to Villa for specialist assessment.

McCormack has a year left on his big money Villa deal, which could easily become one of the most expensive mistakes in the clubs modern history.

After falling out with Steve Bruce and being banished to Australia, there seems little prospect of him making any impression upon Dean Smith either.
