In what is becoming a sense of de ja vu, Ross McCormack is reported to be nearing a loan deal away from Villa Park.

At 32 and with two years remaining on an astronomical contract, McCormack’s time at Villa appears to be on a long road to nowhere.

The Scottish striker bagged 14 goals in 17 games for Melbourne last term, but after #GateGate, Steve Bruce doesn’t look likely to ever consider the £12 million pound signing from Fulham.

Further, it’s telling that no domestic side is either prepared to match McCormack’s wages nor risk his temperament.

McCormack instead is expected to link up with A-League’s bottom club Central Coast Mariners for the remainder of the campaign.

The Australian side must have deep pockets to be subsidising all or part of the £40,000 a week wages unbelievably sanctioned by Roberto Di Matteo and Tony Xia just 2 seasons ago.

The former Scottish international departs having scored just 3 goals in 24 appearances for Villa.
