The latest January transfer news from Villa Park:
TOMMY ELPHICK
There are mixed feelings amongst fans after Elphick has been shown the door, completing a loan move to Reading for the remainder of the season.
Whilst the rumour hasn’t gone away that Elphick might be moved on, it looked arguably less likely after the former Bournemouth captain deputised well in the absence of John Terry.
On the other hand, Elphick’s pedigree as a leader, coupled to this recent good form, clearly attracted suitors. The shop window…
Reading, languishing in 18th under Jaap Stam haven’t wasted any time in securing his services.
Delighted to have joined @ReadingFC for the rest of the season. Looking forward to getting going. Huge good luck to @AVFCOfficial for the run in. pic.twitter.com/itKx51tnbf

AARON TSHIBOLA
News tonight from the club that reports yesterday were accurate, seeing this big money flop switch on loan to Scottish side Kilmarnock.
Whilst few will (rightly) have much to say about Tshibola given his performances for Villa and on loan, it does serve to underline the waste at Villa Park. This hasty, ill-conceived purchase in the infancy of Xia’s ownership looks mightily foolish against the current backdrop of Villa’s exorbitant wage bill [Financial Times investigation] and crippling FFP position.
But it’s not all Villa’s fault. Tshibola was richly rewarded with a move to Villa Park and despite opportunities at B6, Forest and MK Dons he’s has done nothing to justify his fee nor wages.
The 23 year old now finds himself plying his trade in a division where Scott Sinclair looks world class…
Thank you for your welcome messages.. happy to be here. Now looking forward to Celtic at rugby park on Saturday #Killie #Godisgreat

CHIEDOZIE OGBENE

The 20 year old Limerick striker, loosely linked with Villa and Chelsea, is reportedly nearing a transfer to Brentford.
With 10 goals and a number of eye catching performances Ogbene is regarded as a hot prospect, but will join Dean Smiths side rather than arrive at Villa Park when the window closes on Wednesday.
BENIK AFOBE
Another tenuous link includes that of out of favour Bournemouth striker Afobe.
However, the 24 year old, signed from Wolves for £10 million in 2016 is being tracked by any number of struggling Premier League sides – alongside his former employers as well.
Steve Bruce has made no secret of his desire to bring in another striker, but interest has been tempered by competition (Ulloa joining Brighton) and the tight financial constraints at the club currently (Van Persie?).
LEO ULLOA
Speaking of Ulloa – the Leicester striker had been heavily linked to Villa (and elsewhere) throughout the window – but a deal has been confirmed seeing him return to his former club Brighton this afternoon.
