All of the latest news, rumour and transfer updates from Villa Park:
Villa are in competition with Greek champions Olympiacos for the signature of Turkish 19 year old Oğulcan Çağlayan. Whilst Villa may carry the appeal of Premier League football and the financial clout to outbid the Greek side, Olympiacos carry the lure of Champions League football. It’s understood that Villa have bid & are awaiting the decision of the club & player.

Antonio Luna has been released by the club and will join Elche on a two year deal. Luna, who will be remembered for an exceptional winning performance at The Emirates, but nothing else, has had his contract terminated. Having been farmed out on loan and hardly raising an eyebrow, the disappointing signing with a fine beard, is no more.
Villa welcome former Norwich goalkeeper Mark Bunn into the fold. Bunn joins us on a two year deal having made 31 appearances for The Canaries in a 3 year deal that recently expired. Bunn had been expected to join Bristol City, but naturally opted for the bright lights of the Premier League & a pre-season tour of Portugal.

Bunn, who it can be assumed will compete with Jed Steer for the number two goalkeeper spot, said all the right things on arrival;
“Aston Villa is a huge football club and this was too good an opportunity to miss out on.”
At just 30 years old, young for a goalkeeper, he joins as there is great change and uncertainty between the sticks at Villa Park. Guzan was dropped in the dramatic close season run in after a loss of form and a high profile gaff at Manchester City. Given is set to join Stoke & Steer remains very much a Premier League rookie.
Shay Given is reported to have completed a medical with Stoke and will extend his Premier League career yet further. The veteran Irish goalkeeper only really shone in the latter part of his stay at the club, playing an important role in our run to the FA Cup final and closing stages of the league campaign. Crucially, it also removes the financial burden of Given’s £3 million pound a year contract from the club.
