It was just typical that within half an hour of getting the nod to partner Richard Dunne in defence against Blackpool that injury struck.
Cueller overstretched making a typically committed challenge and never recovered – the curse of the pulled hamstring strikes!
Cueller updated his twitter and enlightened fans that he is likely to be out for a month – but was optimistic that he would be in contention within three weeks.
The injury comes with Villa in desperate need of some rigidity at the back and the Spaniards contribution will be sorely missed. Cueller is arguably the best centre half at the club and his absence from the starting eleven after commanding performances have left many fans scratching their heads to date.
Fortunately Villa have a two week break before facing Blackburn at home on the 26th February. Carlos could optimistically return for the Bolton away fixture (5th March) but might realistically not be seen in the squad again until the derby match with Wolves (19th March) at Villa Park.
