Villa have finally broken the will of Nottingham Forest, with the East Midland’s club now arriving at the fact that they stand to lose the 23 year old.

Villa have played relative hard-ball on the fee for Cash, who impressed as Forest narrowly missed out on the playoffs last term. The right back has been strongly linked with a move to B6 for a number of weeks.

Dean Smith found three bids to the two time European Champions rejected, but had a fourth attempt in the region of £14 million accepted. It has been reported that the deal could rise to a maximum of £16 million.

Forest apparently having resigned themselves to the reality that Cash wanted to play Premier League football, with a number of PL sides beaten in the chase.

Cash is expected to undergo a medical before the weekend.

The defender’s arrival may raise some eyebrow’s, moreso given that Frederic Guilbert appeared to show an upturn in form at the end of last term.

However, with Ahmed Elmohamady the wrong side of 30 and Guilbert’s patchy injury record, competition for the right back spot seems rational.

CALLUM WILSON

Wilson struggled during Bournemouth’s final season as the club and Eddie Howe badly lost their way en route to relegation.

However, the 28 year old ticks a number of boxes for Villa’s stated transfer ambitions, both having scored goals but also done so at the elite level of the English game.

Wilson is also arguably entering the prime of his career and would have an opportunity to lead the line with the likes of Samatta failing to impress, Davis unable to score and Wesley injured.

It would be remiss to overlook the risks. Despite being a consistent figure at The Cherries, Wilson has been inconsistent in terms of goal return whilst having endured two serious knee injuries.

However, with the new campaign just a matter of days away and given our own narrow surival, we may need to take calculated risks in terms of recuitment.

Villa are reported to have entered negotiations with the player and Bournemouth, with a fee in the region of £20 million floated. The former England international had been strongly linked to Villa Park just last week.

Sergio Romero

The Villa Underground reported stories linking Sergio Romero with a switch recently, with a possible enticement from Old Trafford in an attempt to send Jack Grealish the other way.

Whilst the outlook for Grealish remains uncertain, it appears that Villa are interested in sealing a deal for Romero. The 33 year old would represent a competent replacement for the injured Tom Heaton, with loanee Pepe Reina having joined Lazio from AC Milan permanently.

Villa are widely reported to have offered United £8 million, with the club holding out for £10 million for a keeper who will see his contract expire next season.
