Internationals: Cash Debuts For Poland As McGinn Shines With Scotland

Matty Cash Robert Lewandowski Poland

Matty Cash made his Poland debut in a 4-1 thumping of Andorra, coming on as a second half substitute during the rout.

After final succeeding after 3 years of attempts to secure a Polish passport, his appearance marks a major milestone for Villa’s 24 year old right back. Cash was brought on by manager Paulo Sousa in the 63rd minute, replacing Przemyslaw Frankowski and playing out the remainder of the game on the right wing.

It is a dream come true and a special moment for me. We looked great and it was an exceptional victory.

JOHN MCGINN

McGinn put in a “brilliant” display as Scotland secured World Cup playoff spot with a 2-0 win over Moldova.

Scotland were largely dominant over their hosts, with McGinn a standout performer in midfield. They did however have to survive a late penalty scare, but Craig Gordon saved the spot-kick.

McGinn was central to Scotland’s victory, providing the assist for a “marvellous” opening goal:

In other news, Tyrone Mings was an un-used substitute as England cruised to a 5-0 victory against a poor Albania side. Former Villa players Tammy Abraham and Jack Grealish made second half cameos with the match long since decided.

Leon Bailey’s Jamaica led until the 90th minute against El Salvador (1-1), but the Villa forward had been withdrawn in the second half having picked up a booking.
