The latest transfer news and rumour concerning Aston Villa.
The transfer window merry-go-round would ordinarily be in hyper-drive by now – the Villa Underground has brought together the current apparent comings and goings at Villa Park below.
GREALISH TO UNITED
It’s the story that won’t go away for our marquee player, with seemingly endless clickbait articles linking Grealish with a move away from B6.
Whilst many of the news and rumour surrounding Grealish is likely just that, there is also an uncomfortable nagging sense of inevitability too.
The latest meat on the bone centres around a report that Manchester United may have to wait a year and cough up a fee of £100m for Jadon Sancho.
This then apparently brings United’s focus back to Grealish, whom would still represent an investment in English talent, for a lower, if still unbelieveable, £75 million pound fee.
Whilst no-one could conceivably want Grealish to leave Villa, fees of this nature, if genuine, cannot be readily dismissed.
With that said, much obviously will hinge upon Villa’s success across the remaining ten Premier League games.
Whilst Grealish is a boyhood Villa fan, one must be realistic in accepting that his playing career couldn’t tolerate any further time in the Championship should Villa succumbed to relegation. If we go, Grealish surely does too.
The real test may indeed lie in the event that Villa retain top flight status.
Our current owners, Sawires and Edens, have a combined estimated net worth of an astounding $9.2 billion dollars. The question would then be one of not just wealth, but proving matched ambition against a United, or other interested suitors.
In another re-circulating rumour Villa have also been linked to Galatasary defender Christian Luyindama.
The Congolese international is 26 years old and reported to command a fee in the region of £13.5 million should he complete any switch from Turkey.
The defender has also been linked to West Ham, but the latest news suggests a preference towards Villa Park as opposed to the London Stadium.
