Bailey, who hasn’t had a great deal of luck with injuries since his arrival at Villa Park, broke down in the recent victory over Leicester City (1-2).
The pacey forward’s injury now sees him ruled out for Jamaica’s upcoming fixtures against Cuba and Honduras in the CONCACAF Nations League. Bailey will be replaced by Jamal Lowe of Sheffield Wednesday.
Bailey was an enforced substitution early in the first half after picking up the injury while stretching in an attempt to block a Leicester pass.
The former Bayer Leverkusen player will now miss a first call-up under former England boss (and Dutch impersonator) Steve McClaren.
The 27-year-old winger hasn’t featured for the Reggae Boyz since November 2023, following suspension and a self-imposed hiatus, during which he turned down a call-up for the Copa America in June.
Last season, Bailey was one of Villa’s standout performers, netting 10 goals and delivering nine assists in the Premier League. We can only hope he can return to full-fitness sooner rather than later.
