Transfer Update: Lescott snubs Rangers for Sunderland, Yedlin £3m Link & Gestede Besiktas Bid.

Having held talks with Rangers boss Mark Warburton and after an agreement in principle to part pay hefty wages, all the signs were that Joleon Lescott was bound for the Scottish Premier League.

However, whilst there was initial speculation that this was due to a failed medical (unconfirmed), the official line is that the “lifelong Villa fan” has rejected the switch for family reasons.

Rangers will now turn their attentions to another former Villain, Phillipe Senderos, whilst a fresh story has emerged linking Lescott to Premier League side Sunderland.

It’s fair to say that we’ve had just about enough of Lescott, the sooner another questionable attitude and limited footballer is moved on, the better.

In other news Villa have been strongly linked to Spurs defender DeAndre Yedlin.

Right back is a position that we are certainly exposed at and it isn’t a great surprise that we are in the hunt for a decent permanent replacement.  Whilst Bacuna showed some promise during the comfortable win over Rotherham, his ability and competence defending over a long campaign have be doubted.

With Alan Hutton rightly appearing to be a peripheral figure in Roberto Di Matteo’s plans, a reported £3m deal for the pacey 23 year definitely appeals.  

Whilst Yedlin has enjoyed limited game-time outside of the MLS, he has been capped 39 times for the USA, impressing in the process.  Villa cannot afford to be picky and might take a chance on the American as we look to continue an overhaul of our backline, subject to Spurs and the player being willing.

Whilst Rudy Gestede turned heads with a brace against Rotherham recently, there have also been frequent transfer links throughout the summer suggesting a possible move away from the club.

The latest reports suggest that Turkish side Besiktas are preparing a bid after losing talisman striker Mario Gomez following recent political turmoil unsettled the German striker.

This is an interesting link given Tony Xia’s inference via Twitter that a number 9 is being sought.  Whilst a leap of
