News: Agosto BID, Clark DEAL, Ogbonna/Vlaar, Helenius OUT & #AVFC Friendlies

The very latest Villa news this Wednesday from Underground Towers;

Fabricio Agosto
is a new name in the frame today.  The Deportivo La Coruna goalkeeper has stalled on a new contract & this has thrown the door open to outside interest.  This interest (unsurprisingly) extends beyond Villa, with fellow Premiership side Everton & sides in La Liga monitoring the 27 year olds availability.

Villa are looking to take steps to ensure that Ciaran Clark remains at the club by offering him an improved contract.  The Irish international has had a mixed career at Villa Park, bursting onto the scene as a youngster before losing his way badly under the Lambert regime.  However, Clark has recovered and looks like one of the most accomplished professionals at the club.

After the hilarious attempt from West Brom to pay for Clark in scrap metal and Tesco clubcard point, he is instead expected to be rewarded for his efforts & commitment in keeping Villa in the division.  Well earned.

Further news that the race for Juventus centre half Ogbonna is hotting up with Everton now apparently in the race.  The attention Villa are giving this suggests that the offer on the table to Vlaar isn’t expected to come to anything.  Quelle Surprise.

Nicklas Helenius, remember him?  The complicated 24 year old Dane is expected to join AaB in a permanent deal, although may yet return to Villa as part of pre-season training should his loan deal expire.  We would wish him all the best should he move on, but the striker would stand as yet another example of Villa’s recent track record of “promising” signings.

The ticket arrangements & availability for Aston Villa’s pre-season fixtures have been announced today on the official site here.  Don’t forget, Villa play two friendly/training games on the Algarve that are completely free to attend if you so happen to be holidaying there (*Note fixture previously against Bristol City is now Sporting Braga) – check the details out here.
