The latest transfer news and rumour from B6 involves an interesting link to 24 year old Milot Rashica.
The winger, currently plying his trade at Werder Bremem, has been touted for a move to England with Villa and Wolves strongly linked.
Rashica had been expected to join AC Milan, but with this deal having fallen through, other interested parties are beginning to circle.
Villa have struggled massively for a lack of quality out wide all season, with Anwar El Ghazi rarely remembling a Premier League footballer and Trezeguet doing little of note until goals against Palace and Arsenal recently. The club is also facing significant uncertainly about the future of Jack Grealish.
Much of Dean Smith’s business will obviously be on hold until the culmination of ‘Survival Sunday’, which see’s Villa needing to avoid the drop by overcoming West Ham on the final day.
Securing top flight status will completely change Villa’s transfer outlook and with it open up the prospect of players such as Rashica joining, with Villa desperate to improve the squad’s quality.
Whilst Rashica has a release fee in the region of €38 million, it’s reported that they would consider offers in the region of around €20 million. Bremen recently also rejected a bid in the region of €15m from Red Bull Leipzig. Liverpool, seemingly linked with everyone at the moment, also made enquiries. To add some intrigue to any fee, there is uncertainty about whether the midfielders release clause has a time limit attached to it.
Rashica has decent stats despite his current clubs struggles. He has found the net 11 times and assisted eight more in 34 appearances for Werder Bremen, with the club narrowly avoiding relegation from the Bundesliga this season.
Given his pedigree and the attention from a broad spectrum of top sides both within Germany and across Europe, it seems fair to say that securing Rashica’s signature would represent somewhat of a coup if achieved.
