Birkir Bjarnason
In a surprise move and a relative coup, Villa have managed to hijack the Icelandic midfielders move to Turkey.
Currently plying his trade with FC Basel, the 28 year old stands to provide bags of experience and can play all across the midfield.
It also makes a shrewd move as Villa desperately seek to inject life into an often woeful midfield.
Bjarnason has almost 60 caps for Iceland and started every game of his countries impressive run at Euro 2016.
Reports indicate that he is in Birmingham to under-go a medical, with an announcement imminent.
His nickname is also Thor…which is the kind of nickname we all wish we had…
Anton Donkor
The chase for the Wolfsbury winger appears to have been lost after interest from Premier League Everton.
The German youth international is in talks with Everton with a view to a loan switch.
JAMES BREE
The protracted Barnsley transfer(s) appear to be nearing a conclusion with a £3 million fee and terms agreed with James Bree.
The 19 year old fullback is expected to be unveiled imminently.
Villa have negotiated a 3 1/2 year deal with a further year as an option.
Bree will be immediate competition for Alan Hutton, who whilst a “trier”, leaves much to be desired.
JOLEON LESCOTT
Few would expect this site to have anything positive to say about Lescott…and rest assured it’s not about to change now.
Putting his foul mentality aside, Lescott was truly a dreadful defender for Aston Villa.
The Villa Underground sends it’s sincere condolences to Sunderland football club, who today announced he would be joining them.
What a hapless and ill-conceived idea to sign a defender no longer capable of moving across the grass, let alone defending.
And to think they are paying him money?? Â Actual money…for a man even AEK Athens couldn’t justify hanging around the place with all of the other statues.
