Jed Steer has arguably had one of the biggest turnarounds in career fortunes in recent Villa history.
The 26 year old was either a victim of long term injury or repeatedly shipped out on loan since joining from Norwich City in 2013.
However, following a recall from Charlton midway through last seasons successful promotion campaign, Steer seized the opportunity presented following injuries to Nyland and new signing Lovre Kalinic.
Steer cut a steady figure between the sticks, contributing important saves (a one superb handed stop against Rotherham with Villa down to ten men sticks in the mind) and being the penalty shoot-out hero against West Brom at The Hawthorns.
Whilst Villa are reportedly considering options in terms of goalkeeping strength and depth (Heaton, Butland etc), Steer has been rewarded with a four year deal, keeping him at Villa Park until 2023.
