A suspiciously re-hashed transfer link to Liverpool’s 23 year old midfielder Kevin Stewart has surfaced.

Stewart has failed to make an breakthrough into the Jurgen Klopp’s side and despite having a long deal on Merseyside will presumably be moved on.

Stewart is described as an exciting prospect in some quarters when looking at fan comments, but equally is a peripheral figure at a club with perhaps grander ambitions.

Equally, at 23, Stewart is suffering “Gary Gardner syndrome”, in which he cannot really be considered a “prospect” or youth player anymore.

Stewart was profile during the last window, the details of which can be read here.

Villa will face stiff competition if harbouring genuine interest in getting his services.  The midfielder is valued at around £10 million by Liverpool, which represents a massive fee for a player who has very limited senior first team experience.

Newly promoted Brighton reportedly lead the chase with a number of Championship sides also maintaining a watching brief.
