10 arrivals Villa fans don’t want to see this summer… #avfc

The season is
over, which can mean only one thing; Wild transfer speculation!  Now the window is open, it’s easy to list who
the Villa faithful might dream of seeing in claret and blue (Messi, Ronaldo
& Aguero)…

Better yet,
who would we dread to see running out for first Premier League game of the
2015/16 season in August?  Also, who are
the last people we’d want to make an appearance at Villa Park?

With that in
mind, Villa Underground took to the wisdom barometer of Twitter to consult the
masses, the results are in:

The people Villa
least want to see arrive this summer:

Joint 10th
& 9th Place Tim Krul & Micah Richards (3% each)

Tim Krul was a
surprise inclusion.  An average keeper at
an insignificant club, who would come on the cheap?  That certainly ticks all of the recruitment boxes
in recent years. However, would he be any better than Guzan or Given?  Pass.

Micah Richards
has been out in the wilderness and has just completed a year on loan from Man
City at Fiorentina.  A Birmingham born player
looking to impress?  Maybe worth a punt,
but he still carries reasonable stock, at least in the English game.  Villa could expect to have to enter wage
discussions knowing other parties might be interested.  We don’t “do” wages.  At 26 years old, Richards falls into a category
of player who should have done much more with their career.  Is this what Villa need?

8th
Most Unwanted: Dimitar Berbatov (5% votes)

Ah, the
languid “silky” striker.  Or just a lazy,
past it, has been?  He starred for Monaco
at the Emirates in their victory over Arsenal last season, yet we can all
recount too many occasions in the Premier League where he went missing.  His signature would be an expensive
mistake…but…the Sherwood connection works wonders…right?

Sharing 7th,
6th & 5th most unwanted. (7% of votes)

Joey Barton

This signing
would be enough to renounce your loyalty, return all merchandise ever bought
and book yourself straight into Dignitas.
The thought, let alone the prospect, repulses any sane minded
footballing person.  Don’t let it be us
Villa.

Johnny Evans

Villa have
been linked with an apparent 10m bid for the Northern Irish international.  We could do worse, but then, given our goals
against, that isn’t real possible.  There
are likely better value players around, but he has looked decidedly ropey in
Man Utd’s backline.  Not exactly a
champagne signing…

Charlie
Austin

Hardworking,
hairy and an aspiring Grant Holt.  Why
not buy him now before his knees disintegrate, pace dissipates and he gets
pranked by a schoolboy?  Would his grit
and presence improve us?  Is this the life
we will lead after Christian Benteke?

4th
Most Unwanted – Crap Owners (7%)

Yes…we are
desperate to avoid a Vincent Tang situation.
Can you imagine waking up to discover our home kit has been changed to
Blue?  Or that Villa Park has been moved
to an industrial estate with an ASDA Living and a Premier Inn attachedto it.  It could be worse…Carsen Yeung…

3rd
Most Unwanted – (Anyone named) Lambert (10%)

A popular
choice.  And to think we almost had two
Lambert’s in Rickie and Paul.  Rickie “I
luv livairpewl all me lyfe & I car bring meself t leeve” Lambert.  Fortunately Rickie never signed, Paul was
sacked & the world started turning again.

Lambert’s
are a cursed name in these parts for many years to come.  No more just yet please.

2nd
Most Unwanted – The FBI (12%)

A popular
suggestion in reference to the recent shambles at FIFA.  The last thing we would want, the day after
Neymar’s unveiling to the Holte End, is the FBI to turn up…”Balaban? Never
heard of the guy..”

1st Place – Most Unwanted –
Emmanuel Adebayor (39%)

The troubled
Togo International.  The Arsenal, Man
City, Real Madrid & Spurs veteran hovered up the votes like a talented British
dog.  Mention a player being “revitalised”,
you’ll often hear the Sherwood/Adebayor story; the links just won’t go away.  This is a scary proposition with Spurs
desperate to offload a player whose form is patchy at best and comes with
emotional baggage.  Hopefully Villa will
take a wide berth, but we do like a player on the cheap… *gulp
