Jack Grealish has signed an improved 4 year contract at the club.
After suffering “second season syndrome” in Villa’s relegation year, Jack has come back with his head screwed on so far this term.
After the humiliation of being dropped by Remi Garde and repeated issues of ill-discipline all but a distant memory, Grealish has triggered a new deal by hitting 20 starts.
The deal includes a two year extension which ties the midfielder to Villa Park until 2020.
The club have also announced that Gordan Cowans has left the club.
Cowans leaves after a 40 year association, including a English Champsionhip and European Cup winner.
Since then he has held various roles, predominantly in the youth set-up.
Villa’s prolific Twitterer Tony Xia and BBC journalist Pat Murphy were quick to assure that Sid’s departure was not connected to the arrival or Steve Round, and appears a decision completely at ease with the Villa legend:

Former Villa striker Dean Saunders has become a bit of a viral hit recently following the Welshman sharing a Brian Clough anecdote on Talksport.
The story essentially covers Saunders’ meeting with Clough and the drunken farce that ensues.
Whilst there were certainly elements of the story that it would be a lie to say weren’t amusing, there was equally a whiff of “exaggeration” about it.
As importantly, The Villa Underground thought that this was a sad & “degrading” image to paint of anyone who publicly suffered with alcoholism. Particularly if the story & Saunders’ recollection of it is in question.

Daniel Taylor, writing for The Guardian, reveals a different tale.
Indeed, it goes as far as to state that Saunders has put the events of his meeting with Clough through “a very imaginative scriptwriter”. Saunders has apparently “been informed that his story is disputed and chosen not to comment”. Which in itself is telling.
Saunders was a popular and key figure for Villa in the early 90′s scoring 49 goals in 149 appearances & winning the League Cup in 1994. Saunders has had a mixed experience since in management, most notably with poor spells most recently with Wolves and Chesterfield.

Better late than never, The Birmingham Mail have reported that Chris Samuelson is no longer on the Villa board (covered August 27th 2016 on these pages…) , nor indeed involved in any Recon Group activities.
The Swiss financier, whom many a keyboard warrior have long since Googled to death, appears to now have ended any association any might have feared with Aston Villa.
