Aston Villa Transfer News: Defensive Target Victor Nelsson Features In Comedy Own Goal

Despite Villa being active in the transfer market and going to great lengths to strengthen the squad, the centre-back position does still look light.

With a chequered injury record for Bjorn Engels and Kortney Hause limping off against Stoke, Villa would have to call on Elmo if either Mings or Konsa dropped out.

Although Smith indicated prior to Ross Barkley’s arrival that he envisaged only 1 more player through the door, it seems unlikely that if the right player presented that we wouldn’t strengthen.

Victor Nelsson, a 21 year old Danish Under-21 international, has been linked with a switch to Villa Park.

An up and coming centre-half, Nelsson is valued at €10 million and currently plys his trade at FC Copenhagen. This is the former club of current Villa Sporting Director Johan Lange (of course!).

Nelsson only joined Copenhagen in 2019 but has caught the eye as Captain of the national U-21’s. He also impressed, despite his inexperience, reaching the quarter finals of the Europa League last season.

With Villa reported to have made a bid, in true comedy fashion, Nelsson found himself a part of a comedy of errors as Copenhagen were knocked out of the Europa League last night against Rijeka.

Look away now Victor Nelsson; he’s the guy who trips over a fallen team-mate in the hilarious build-up:
