The latest transfer news from B6 as Villa seek to secure reinforcements ahead of the Premier League’s resumption in mid-September

After a £12 million bid was rejected by QPR from Crystal Palace, Smith face’s competition for the promising 22 year old midfielder.
Recently promoted sides Leeds, West Brom and Fulham are also reported to by the local press as admirers, with Eze anticipated to command a fee in the region of £16 million.

However, a news report from north of the border suggests that Celtic are unwilling to sell their star striker, with Edouard also holding out for a move to a ‘bigger’ club.
Dean Smith will be under signficant pressure to add to Villa’s impotent strike-force, with Davis and Samatta goal-shy and Brazilian Wesley yet to return from a long term knee injury.

I cannot help feeling that whoever opened their big mouth and said we were planning to spend £100m has stupidly cost us dearly. Most of the players we are looking at have had a price increase of millions. None of them are proven in the Prem which is a massive step up from the Championship and the Scottish Premier League but here we are being quoted well over the odds for unproven players. Yes we have really shot ourselves in the foot quoting £100m for sure.
