Transfer deals appear to be hotting up at Villa Park as the club approaches pre-season. There are even more names in the frame following the recent updates on Micah Richards, Lowton, Cissokho, Sylla & Benteke.

Spurs are pulling out all of the stops to try and gain an advantage in signing Christian Benteke. They have reportedly offered Andros Townsend as part of a deal to tempt Villa. This is a classic Daniel Levy lure, which may appeal to Villa, but might not be such a preferred move for Benteke who is seeking top European football.
Jamie Vardy is the latest to be linked with a switch to Villa. The 28 year old, newly capped England international was recently the subject of a rejected £5 million bid by West Brom. Vardy impressed in a resurgent Leicester side last season & his work ethic might fit the Sherwood mould of player. West Brom & Stoke remain in the hunt for the Foxes strikers’ services however.

Andreas Weimann will bring his disappointing Villa career to an end this week when he joins Derby County in a £2.5 million pound deal. The Austrian international always showed great drive, but failed to deliver goals or consistency. With just 4 goals from 34 appearances last term, his lack of end product was symptomatic of Villa’s inability to win or score goals when they were most required. A drop down the leagues seems inevitable.
Villa continue to monitor and face a battle for the services of Welsh international James Chester. Villa, West Brom, Leicester & Newcastle are chasing the signature of the 26 year old centre half, relegated with Hull last season.
19 year old Reading winger Tariqe Fosu is currently on the radar having yet to sign a new deal with the Royals. Villa desperately need width and creativity & have been alerted to Fosu’s availability. Newcastle are the other club pursuing the young wide mans signature.
