It’s a never ending rollercoaster of fun being a Villa fan – here’s the latest from B6:

Matt Lowton appears to be set to make a swift exit from the club after failing to impress the new regime. Lowton, who showed signs of promise when deputising at the end of last term, will join relegated Burnley for a bargain £1 million. He will be remembered for an outrageous goal against Stoke, helping to keep us in the top flight 2 years ago.

Aleksandar Tonev, another incomprehensible Lambert signing is currently strongly linked with Bulgarian side Ludogorets.

Tonev, largely a derided figure at Villa, has little hope of rekindling a career under Sherwood. Additionally, he now carries the undesirable connection to racism following a 7 match ban earned whilst at Celtic last term.

If a fee and wages can be agreed, he will go…but to complicate matters…some plonker awarded him a contract until 2017.  Tonev may prefer to sit tight at Villa Park on better contractual terms. You truly cannot make it up!

Ron Vlaar news had been quiet of late. He is considering improved offers from the continent and another Premier League club, possibly Manchester United. Ho hum.  Besiktas appear to be the keenest side to snap up the Dutchman & have approached Vlaar with an improved deal this week.  Vlaar will become a free agent as of the 30th June – it looks all but certain that he will walk away from the club.

Tom Huddlestone – now – here is a truly Marmite signing. Reports now suggest he may now prefer to remain with relegated Hull. A proposed fee of £5.5 million does seem steep for a player that more vocal Tigers fans seem eager to be rid of. This one could go either way & there is likely to be a twist in this yet.

Angelo Ogbonna is a fresh link.  The 27 year old Juventus defender has played 41 times for Juventus in two Serie A seasons, securing two winners medals in that time.  However, Ogbonna has struggled with a problematic groin injury which has led to him looking to be moved on.  Villa & Southampton are interested, as are newly promoted Italian side Bologna.
